5 Ways to give your billboard a BOOST

5 Ways to boost your billboard

You have a billboard. But it's becoming a little stale, a little outdated, a little billboring shall we say? Billboards are like any form of advertising – it should never be a matter of set and forget. Keep your billboard fresh, keep your customer's attention and boost your outdoor advertising with these tips.

 

Refresh your artwork

Nobody ever bored their customers into buying from them. If your current artwork isn't driving customers to your website, update it. Rule of thumb, refresh it every 6 - 12 months. Change your headline (but still keep it under six words), create a conversation with your audience, pique their interest. 

 

Don't try to look like other businesses in your industry – a billboard is the ideal medium to stand out, be bold, be different. At the same time, don't drown your message/hook in convoluted advertising puns or cliche humour. Keep it smart, clever and simple.

 

Use a strong promotional hook or offer

You only have a few seconds to get your message to your billboard audience. Think about what you want from them, what you want them to do, what will grab their interest quickly? Use this hook across your other advertising mediums – website, digital, to hammer home that offer. (Remember, on average it takes a minimum five brand interactions before a customer enters your sales funnel.)

 

Get an extension

Extensions go above and beyond (literally) to catch the attention of customers. Extensions, which are simply pieces added to your billboard to make your advertising extend beyond the board's borders, are a great tool to make your ad more impactful, more interesting.

 

Use reflective skin material

For those billboards that may not be well-lit at night, we do offer a reflective skin that makes your sign pop with the reflection of your customer's headlights. Reflective skins are particularly useful on outdoor signs located along highways.

 

Update your website

Most good billboards direct traffic to a website, because they are (or should be!) easy to remember, and should answer any questions your audience may have after seeing your billboard. Ensure to keep your website up to date and ready to answer any questions your customers may have about your business.
